# BAZG Enforcement Tasks Act (BAZG-VG)

Full title: "Federal Act on the General Part of Duty Collection and the Control of the Cross-Border Movement of Goods and Persons by the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security." It was created as part of the total revision of Swiss customs law and the customs digitalisation programme DaziT, and consolidates the procedural, data-protection, risk-analysis and criminal-law foundations into a single, fully digital procedure. For forwarders, hauliers, customs agents and trading companies it provides the legal basis for the digital processes around the new Passar goods-traffic system (goods declaration, transport declaration, assessment) and establishes clear responsibilities and procedural channels. Legislative status (planning, as of June 2026): the Swiss Parliament adopted the bill in the final vote of the summer session in June 2025; the referendum period lapsed unused in 2025. Entry into force is to be set in stages by the Federal Council and had not yet been definitively scheduled at that point – the details may change. The BAZG-VG should be distinguished from the new Customs Duties Act (ZoG), which governs the substantive customs duties (the amount and levying of duties), whereas the BAZG-VG covers the general part and the enforcement tasks of the BAZG; together they replace the former Customs Act (ZG).
