# B2B Freight Shipment Consolidations

A company ships several pallets a week – not enough to fill a truck or a container. B2B freight consolidation solves this by having a forwarder combine shipments from multiple business customers into a single transport unit, moving them together to a consolidation hub or directly to the destination, then deconsolidating on arrival. The cost savings can be significant, especially on intercontinental sea freight lanes. The trade-off is longer transit times: the forwarder must wait until sufficient volume is assembled before dispatching. In road freight this is known as LTL (less-than-truckload); in ocean freight as LCL (less-than-container-load).
