The message includes the actual time of arrival, container numbers, total weight, and the steps the consignee must complete next: customs clearance, document submission, and collection deadlines. For the consignee, it is the trigger to allocate warehouse capacity, coordinate inland transport, and notify downstream customers where required. Transmission typically happens via email, carrier portal, or EDI. An arrival notification does not transfer title to the goods and should not be confused with a delivery order or bill of lading surrender – its purpose is strictly operational coordination.
