# Approval Certificate Dangerous Goods

> When preparing a hazardous materials shipment for dispatch, the carrier or freight forwarder must have on file a valid approval certificate confirming that the packaging, container, or vehicle used meets the design and performance requirements of the applicable dangerous goods regulations—ADR, the IMDG Code, or IATA-DGR.

When preparing a hazardous materials shipment for dispatch, the carrier or freight forwarder must have on file a valid approval certificate confirming that the packaging, container, or vehicle used meets the design and performance requirements of the applicable dangerous goods regulations—ADR, the IMDG Code, or IATA-DGR. Issued by a competent authority or an accredited testing body, this certificate must accompany the transport documents throughout the journey. Customs and port authorities will refuse to release any consignment where the certificate is missing or expired. Validity periods differ by hazard class and certified item; renewal must be completed before expiry, as retroactive extension is not permitted.
