Air transport is the commercial movement of goods by aircraft — the fastest mode of international freight, and consistently the most expensive. Forwarders turn to it when transit time is the overriding factor: pharmaceuticals, electronics, perishables, and high-value goods that cannot wait days at sea. The Air Waybill (AWB) is the key transport and contract document; liability is governed by the Montreal Convention. Capacity is split between belly holds on passenger services and dedicated freighter aircraft. Air freight should not be confused with express courier services, which share the same aviation infrastructure but operate under distinct delivery guarantees and rate structures.
