Ruanda (ISO-Code: RW) liegt in Ostafrika, grenzt an Uganda, Tansania, Burundi und die Demokratische Republik Kongo und zählt zu den Binnenstaaten des Kontinents. Politisch ist es eine präsidentielle Republik mit zentralisierter Verwaltung und stabiler Regierungsführung unter Präsident Kagame. Das Klima ist äquatorial mit milden Temperaturen, ausgeprägten Regenzeiten und fruchtbaren Hochlandregionen. Wirtschaftlich spielt Landwirtschaft eine zentrale Rolle, insbesondere Kaffee- und Teeanbau, ergänzt durch Bergbau, Dienstleistungen und aufstrebende Technologiebranchen. Im Aussenhandel exportiert Ruanda vor allem Agrarprodukte und mineralische Rohstoffe, während es stark von Importen für Energie, Maschinen und Konsumgüter abhängig ist. Die logistische Bedeutung ergibt sich aus dem internationalen Flughafen Kigali sowie den transnationalen Strassenverbindungen nach Tansania und Uganda. Aufgrund der Binnenlage ist die Transitfunktion begrenzt, gewinnt jedoch durch regionale Verkehrskorridore an Bedeutung. Die Landeswährung ist der Ruanda-Franc (RWF). Ruanda verfolgt aktiv Strategien zur Diversifizierung der Wirtschaft und Verbesserung der Transportinfrastruktur, um seine Position im regionalen Handel zu stärken.
