Samoa (ISO-Code: WS) ist ein Inselstaat im südlichen Pazifik und liegt östlich von Fidschi sowie westlich von Amerikanisch-Samoa. Politisch ist Samoa eine parlamentarische Demokratie und Mitglied des Commonwealth sowie der Vereinten Nationen. Das Klima ist tropisch mit ganzjährig hohen Temperaturen, hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit und einer ausgeprägten Regenzeit von November bis April. Die Wirtschaft ist kleinstrukturiert und stark auf Landwirtschaft, Fischerei, Tourismus und Überweisungen aus dem Ausland ausgerichtet. Logistisch ist Samoa aufgrund der Insellage stark auf See- und Luftfracht angewiesen, wobei der Hafen von Apia eine zentrale Rolle spielt. Im Aussenhandel dominieren Agrarprodukte, Fischereierzeugnisse und verarbeitete Nahrungsmittel auf der Exportseite. Die Importabhängigkeit ist hoch, insbesondere bei Treibstoffen, Maschinen, Fahrzeugen und Konsumgütern. Eine bedeutende Transitfunktion besteht nicht, jedoch ist Samoa ein regionaler Umschlagpunkt für den interinsularen Warenverkehr. Die Landeswährung ist der Samoanische Tala (WST).
