Sierra Leone (ISO-Code: SL) liegt in Westafrika an der Atlantikküste und grenzt an Guinea und Liberia. Politisch ist das Land eine präsidiale Republik mit demokratisch gewählten Institutionen. Das Klima ist tropisch mit hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit, einer Regenzeit von Mai bis Oktober und einer trockenen Harmattan-Periode von November bis April. Wirtschaftlich basiert Sierra Leone auf Landwirtschaft, Bergbau, Fischerei und einem wachsenden Dienstleistungssektor, wobei insbesondere Diamanten, Bauxit und andere mineralische Rohstoffe von Bedeutung sind. Im Aussenhandel exportiert das Land vor allem mineralische Rohstoffe, landwirtschaftliche Erzeugnisse und Fisch, während es stark auf Importe von Lebensmitteln, Energie und Industrieprodukten angewiesen ist. Logistisch verfügt Sierra Leone über den Hafen von Freetown, internationale Flughäfen sowie Strassenverbindungen, die für den regionalen Transit und die Versorgung des Landes zentral sind. Die Landeswährung ist der Leone (SLL). Investitionen in Infrastruktur, Transport und Logistikprojekte sollen die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit stärken und die Integration Sierra Leones in internationale Lieferketten verbessern.
