Guadeloupe (ISO GP) ist ein französisches Übersee-Département (DOM) und ein EU-Gebiet in äusserster Randlage in der östlichen Karibik, bestehend aus den Hauptinseln Basse-Terre und Grande-Terre sowie Marie-Galante, Les Saintes und La Désirade. Verwaltungssitz ist Basse-Terre, das wirtschaftliche Zentrum bildet der Grossraum Pointe-à-Pitre/Les Abymes. Die Bevölkerung lag laut INSEE am 1. Januar 2023 bei rund 384'160 Personen mit leicht rückläufiger Tendenz. Logistisch zählt Guadeloupe zur EU-Zollunion, bildet jedoch ein eigenes Steuergebiet: Es gelten eine reduzierte TVA (8,5 Prozent Normalsatz, 2,1 Prozent ermässigt) sowie der Octroi de mer, eine seit Jahrhunderten bestehende Abgabe auf Importe und lokale Produktion. Die Wirtschaft ist stark importabhängig, vor allem bei Lebensmitteln, Treibstoff, Fahrzeugen und Industriegütern, während die Exporte (Bananen, Rum, Zucker) begrenzt sind. Zentrale Drehscheibe der Versorgung ist der Grand Port Maritime de la Guadeloupe (Guadeloupe Port Caraïbes) mit dem Containerterminal in Jarry/Baie-Mahault; die Luftfracht läuft über den Flughafen Guadeloupe - Maryse Condé (PTP, ehemals Pôle Caraïbes). Die Währung ist der Euro.
