Gibraltar (ISO-Code: GI) ist ein britisches Überseegebiet an der Südspitze der Iberischen Halbinsel, an der Grenze zu Spanien und am Eingang zum Mittelmeer. Politisch untersteht es dem Vereinigten Königreich, verfügt aber über eine autonome Verwaltung mit eigenem Parlament. Das Klima ist mediterran mit milden Wintern und heissen Sommern. Wirtschaftlich dominieren Finanz- und Dienstleistungssektor, Onlinegaming, Tourismus sowie maritime Dienste; der Aussenhandel ist stark importabhängig (Lebensmittel, Treibstoff, Konsumgüter). Der Hafen von Gibraltar ist der grösste Bunkerhafen des Mittelmeers und sichert die Transit- und Versorgungsfunktion zwischen Atlantik und Mittelmeer. Steuerlich erhebt Gibraltar keine Mehrwertsteuer. Seit dem 10. April 2026 besteht eine Zollunion zwischen Gibraltar und der EU; gleichzeitig wurde eine Transaction Tax auf Waren eingeführt, die die frühere Einfuhrabgaben-Struktur ersetzt. Die Landeswährung ist das Gibraltar-Pfund (GIP), fest 1:1 an das Britische Pfund gekoppelt.
