Sambia (ISO-Code: ZM) ist ein Binnenstaat im südlichen Afrika und grenzt unter anderem an die Demokratische Republik Kongo, Tansania, Simbabwe und Mosambik. Politisch ist das Land eine präsidiale Republik mit vergleichsweise stabilen staatlichen Strukturen im regionalen Vergleich. Das Klima ist überwiegend tropisch mit einer ausgeprägten Regen- und Trockenzeit sowie gemässigten Temperaturen in höheren Lagen. Wirtschaftlich ist Sambia stark vom Bergbau geprägt, insbesondere von der Kupferförderung im Copperbelt, die eine zentrale Rolle für Wertschöpfung und Exporterlöse spielt. Aufgrund der Binnenlage ist das Land auf leistungsfähige Transportkorridore zu Seehäfen in Nachbarstaaten angewiesen, was der Logistik eine strategische Bedeutung verleiht. Im Aussenhandel dominieren Kupfer und Kupferprodukte die Exporte, während Treibstoffe, Maschinen, Fahrzeuge und Konsumgüter importiert werden. Die Importabhängigkeit ist hoch, insbesondere bei Energie, Industrie- und Investitionsgütern. Sambia übernimmt eine regionale Transitfunktion für den Güterverkehr zwischen Zentralafrika und den Häfen im östlichen und südlichen Afrika. Die Landeswährung ist der Sambische Kwacha (ZMW).
