Somalia (ISO-Code: SO) liegt im Horn von Afrika und grenzt an Äthiopien, Dschibuti und Kenia sowie an den Golf von Aden und den Indischen Ozean. Politisch ist das Land eine föderale Republik mit dezentralen Verwaltungsstrukturen, wobei die Sicherheitslage und staatliche Stabilität regional stark variieren. Das Klima ist überwiegend arid bis semi-arid mit heissen, trockenen Perioden und saisonalen Regenzeiten von März bis Mai sowie Oktober bis Dezember. Wirtschaftlich basiert Somalia vor allem auf Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht, Fischerei und Handel, während Industrie und verarbeitender Sektor nur begrenzt entwickelt sind. Im Aussenhandel exportiert das Land hauptsächlich Vieh, Fischprodukte und landwirtschaftliche Erzeugnisse, während es stark von Importen von Lebensmitteln, Energie, Maschinen und Konsumgütern abhängig ist. Logistisch spielen die Häfen in Mogadischu, Berbera und Kismayo sowie internationale Flughäfen eine zentrale Rolle für den Warenverkehr, wobei Somalia begrenzte Transitfunktionen für die Region übernimmt. Die Landeswährung ist der Somali-Schilling (SOS). Strategische Initiativen konzentrieren sich auf den Ausbau von Infrastruktur, Hafenanlagen und Logistiknetzwerken, um die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und regionale Integration zu stärken.
