Mosambik (ISO-Code: MZ) liegt im Südosten Afrikas an der Küste des Indischen Ozeans und grenzt an Tansania, Sambia, Simbabwe, Südafrika und Eswatini. Politisch ist es eine präsidiale Republik mit einem stabilen Mehrparteiensystem. Das Klima ist tropisch an der Küste, im Landesinneren teils subtropisch, mit einer ausgeprägten Regenzeit von November bis April. Wirtschaftlich ist Mosambik reich an natürlichen Ressourcen, insbesondere Gas, Kohle, Aluminium und landwirtschaftlichen Produkten, während der Industriesektor noch im Ausbau begriffen ist. Die logistische Bedeutung ergibt sich vor allem durch die Häfen von Maputo, Beira und Nacala, die zentrale Tore für den regionalen und internationalen Handel darstellen. Im Aussenhandel dominieren Exporte von Gas, Kohle und Aluminium, während Lebensmittel, Maschinen und Konsumgüter importiert werden, wodurch eine hohe Importabhängigkeit besteht. Mosambik spielt eine wichtige Transitrolle für den Binnenhandel seiner Nachbarstaaten, insbesondere für Sambia und Simbabwe. Die Landeswährung ist der Metical (MZN), der die wirtschaftliche Stabilität unterstützt. Infrastrukturprojekte wie Eisenbahnverbindungen und Hafenmodernisierungen stärken die Rolle Mosambiks als logistischen Knotenpunkt im südlichen Afrika. Der Tourismussektor und die Fischerei ergänzen die wirtschaftliche Diversifikation des Landes.
