> Lesoto es un país sin litoral, completamente rodeado por Sudáfrica, y miembro de la unión aduanera SACU y de la SADC. El comercio exterior se realiza casi por completo por carretera y ferrocarril a través de Sudáfrica hacia el puerto de Durban. Las exportaciones principales son textiles (preferencia arancelaria hacia EE.UU. mediante AGOA), diamantes, lana y mohair. Dentro de la SACU el comercio está libre de aranceles; el IVA de importación general es del 15 por ciento. El despacho aduanero se realiza mediante ASYCUDA World de la Revenue Services Lesotho.

Lesotho (ISO-Code: LS) ist ein Binnenstaat im südlichen Afrika und vollständig von Südafrika umschlossen. Politisch handelt es sich um eine konstitutionelle Monarchie mit parlamentarischem System. Das Klima ist subtropisch hochlandgeprägt, mit kühlen Wintern und mässig warmen Sommern. Wirtschaftlich ist Lesotho stark vom Bergbau, insbesondere Diamanten, sowie von Landwirtschaft und Textilproduktion geprägt. Der Aussenhandel konzentriert sich auf den Export von Bekleidung und landwirtschaftlichen Erzeugnissen, während Importgüter überwiegend Energie, Nahrungsmittel und Maschinen sind. Aufgrund der Binnenlage ist Lesotho stark auf Transit über Südafrika angewiesen und nutzt die nahegelegenen Häfen und Strassen für den Handel. Die Landeswährung ist der Lesothische Loti (LSL), der parallel zum Südafrikanischen Rand im Umlauf ist. Logistische Infrastruktur umfasst Strassenverbindungen und kleine Industriegebiete, die vor allem auf den Export ausgerichtet sind. Lesotho ist in regionale Handelsnetze integriert, insbesondere innerhalb der Southern African Development Community.
