External trade is strongly import-dependent, especially for food, fuel and manufactured goods. The ports of St. Peter Port and St. Sampson and Guernsey Airport (GCI) secure the island's supply and logistics. The local currency is the Guernsey pound (GGP), at par with and interchangeable with sterling (GBP), which is also legal tender.
