The Faroe Islands (ISO code: FO) are an autonomous region of Denmark located in the North Atlantic, approximately between Iceland, Norway, and Scotland. Politically, the islands have extensive self-governance with their own parliament and government, but remain part of the Kingdom of Denmark. The climate is oceanic-cool, characterized by mild winters, cool summers, and frequent rainfall, along with strong winds. Economically, fishing, aquaculture, and related services play a dominant role, while other industrial sectors are only limitedly developed. Foreign trade is central, with exports primarily consisting of fish and seafood products, while the country is dependent on imports for food, fuel, and industrial products.
