Argentina (AR) is a major agricultural export power in southern South America and the second-largest market within Mercosur. As a Mercosur member, Argentina applies the common external tariff; imports are processed through the Sistema Informático Malvina (SIM) of the Dirección General de Aduanas (ARCA). The import-licensing regimes SIRA and SEDI were abolished in 2025; VAT (IVA) is 21 percent (reduced 10.5 percent) on the CIF value. The dominant gateway is the port cluster Gran Rosario on the Paraná River (Puerto General San Martín), the world's largest soy and grain export hub; container traffic runs through Buenos Aires and Bahía Blanca.
