## Description

Le 6 mai 1937, le «Hindenburg» s'embrasa au-dessus de ce terrain, mettant fin à l'ère des dirigeables: Lakehurst était alors le port d'attache des aéronefs de l'US Navy, et ses gigantesques hangars à dirigeables existent toujours. Le Maxfield Field appartient aujourd'hui à la Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst; la Navy y teste notamment les catapultes et brins d'arrêt de ses porte-avions sur des installations à terre. Aucun trafic civil, aucun fret. Le fret aérien commercial de la région passe par Newark ou Philadelphie.
