Aux portes du parc national Los Glaciares, en Patagonie australe, l'aéroport Comandante Armando Tola d'El Calafate (FTE) est un terrain touristique très saisonnier dont le fret se limite entièrement à la soute. Septembre 2026 y a compté 204 vols commerciaux, un peu plus de six par jour, contre 224 en septembre 2025. Aerolíneas Argentinas, JetSMART et LADE desservent Buenos Aires et Ushuaia, Córdoba, Bariloche et Trelew s'ajoutant au printemps austral; pour l'été 2026/27, GOL ouvre une liaison depuis São Paulo-Guarulhos le 26 novembre 2026 et SKY relie Santiago du Chili. Le site ne dispose ni de terminal de fret dédié, ni de vols tout-cargo, ni de bureau de douane distinct pour les marchandises: les envois voyagent en soute et restent limités par le gabarit des monocouloirs. Le fret aérien commercial de la Patagonie australe est donc regroupé à Buenos Aires-Ezeiza (EZE), Río Gallegos (RGL), à environ 300 kilomètres au sud-est, servant d'alternative la plus proche. Pour les volumes, la route nationale 40 ou la route 3 reste la solution habituelle.
