## Description

EVN and UDYZ are the codes behind Zvartnots International Airport, the single air freight entry point for landlocked Armenia and by far the country's busiest airport. A dedicated cargo terminal with roughly 10,000 m² of warehouse space has operated on site since 1998, though published annual capacity figures vary between 25,000 and 100,000 tonnes and none of them is confirmed by the operator. Passenger traffic set a record in 2025 at more than 5.6 million, making Yerevan the second-busiest airport in the South Caucasus after Baku. The airport is run under concession by Argentina-based Corporación América Airports, and the Armenian government approved an amended concession agreement backed by around USD 425 million of committed investment. Ground and cargo handling is provided by operators including Zvartnots Handling and JetStream International; most tonnage moves as belly cargo on passenger services rather than on based freighters. With the Turkish and Azerbaijani land borders closed, Armenian surface freight runs almost entirely through Georgia — Tbilisi is roughly five to six hours by truck, and the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi are the nearest sea gateways for multimodal routings. Armenia has applied the Eurasian Economic Union common external tariff since 2015, which simplifies customs formalities with Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus but adds requirements for shipments from the EU. Charter volumes and full freighter capacity are usually consolidated via Tbilisi (TBS), Istanbul or Dubai.
