## Description

Opened in 2016 on the historic Ramenskoye flight-test aerodrome about 40 kilometres south-east of central Moscow, Zhukovsky International (IATA: ZIA, ICAO: UUBW) is the fourth and youngest of the Moscow airports, built mainly for low-cost, charter and seasonal passenger traffic. It boasts one of the world's longest public-use runways at roughly 5,400 metres and was designed for up to two million passengers a year. The airport is run by Ramport Aero, a joint venture of Lithuania's Avia Solutions Group (75%) and Russian state corporation Rostec (25%). A cargo terminal of about 14,000 square metres exists on site, but the airport carries no scheduled air-freight traffic of note. Russian airspace closures and temporary flight restrictions in place since 2022 have weighed further on volumes, with passenger numbers down about 18% in 2025. For air cargo into the Moscow region, forwarders should use Sheremetyevo (SVO) or Domodedovo (DME) rather than ZIA.
