## Description

Etihad Cargo's home base moved the bulk of the roughly 770,000 tonnes of air freight handled across the Abu Dhabi Airports network in 2025, a 12% year-on-year rise, and Zayed International (IATA: AUH, ICAO: OMAA) recorded 58,128 tonnes of dedicated freighter cargo in the first quarter of 2026 alone (+11.4%). The freighter network now reaches 36 destinations, while a record 32.5 million passengers in 2025 also expanded belly capacity. Etihad Cargo specialises in IATA CEIV-certified pharmaceutical corridors, cool-chain handling and equine transport. A new midfield cargo terminal of 70,000 square metres is being built to a design capacity of one million tonnes a year, supported by a 6,500-square-metre fully airside forward transfer facility rated at 250,000 tonnes annually. Surface connections are genuinely multimodal: the E11 motorway runs to Dubai, deep-water Khalifa Port and the KEZAD special economic zone are about 40 minutes away, and Etihad Rail's freight network links the emirate's ports by rail. Bonded warehousing and round-the-clock customs clearance are standard. Positioning itself as the less congested alternative to Dubai's facilities, AUH continues to add freighter links towards Asia and Africa, including K-Mile Air's new direct cargo service to northern Thailand.
