## Description

At roughly 3,890 metres above sea level, Yushu Batang Airport (IATA: YUS) ranks among the highest civil airports in China, serving the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai. China Eastern and Tibet Airlines connect the plateau city with Xining, Chengdu and Xi'an. There is no cargo terminal; air freight is limited to small belly-hold consignments, and the thin air restricts aircraft payloads further. Forwarders should route shipments via Xining Caojiapu (XNN) or Chengdu and truck the final leg along the G214 highway. The airport gained national prominence in 2010, when it handled the airlift after the devastating Yushu earthquake.
