## Description

Opened on 14 December 1989 and located some 18 km from central Xiangyang, Liuji Airport (IATA: XFN, ICAO: ZHXF) handles a purely domestic passenger schedule flown by carriers such as Shenzhen Airlines, Juneyao Airlines and China Express. The Hubei city is a major base of carmaker Dongfeng, but the plants ship by road and rail rather than by air. XFN has no scheduled freighter services — a one-off cargo charter from Billund in 2019 remains the exception — and only limited belly space on domestic flights. Regional air freight therefore routes via Wuhan Tianhe (WUH) or the dedicated cargo airport Ezhou Huahu (EHU). An apron expansion begun in 2025 is adding aircraft stands for future growth.
