## Description

On the east-coast sands of Wonsan, the former Kalma military airfield reopened in 2015 as a civilian terminal and now anchors the Wonsan-Kalma tourist zone, whose beach resort began hosting domestic guests in July 2025. Despite the "international" title, traffic remains confined to a handful of domestic flights, with no scheduled foreign services to date. Air cargo is correspondingly negligible, limited to occasional state charter loads. For forwarders there is no commercial freight link — shipments to North Korea move, within sanctions limits, through Pyongyang Sunan (FNJ). Notably, a rail depot under construction since 2024 sits beside the airport, intended to tie rail and air together for tourist logistics. For now Wonsan Kalma is a passenger and prestige project rather than a freight node.
