## Description

Wenzhou Longwan International Airport (WNZ/ZSWZ) has roughly tripled its freight base in a decade: 81,100 tonnes of cargo and mail in 2019, about 106,000 tonnes in 2023 and a record 128,700 tonnes in 2025. The volumes come out of one of China's densest clusters of private light industry — footwear, garments, low-voltage electrical equipment, valves and lighters — much of it shipped from Zhejiang province to Europe and North America. Traffic moves largely as belly cargo on domestic and regional services plus feeder flows to the larger Yangtze River Delta cargo hubs, rather than as intercontinental freighter operations from Wenzhou itself. The airport sits in the coastal Longwan district about 20 kilometres southeast of the city centre, next to the Port of Wenzhou, which makes sea-air combinations practical. For widebody freighter capacity, shippers usually truck to Shanghai Pudong (PVG, around 460 road kilometres), Hangzhou Xiaoshan (HGH, roughly 330 kilometres) or Ningbo (NGB, some 250 kilometres) on well-established road feeder services. Customs formalities follow General Administration of Customs China (GACC) rules, including consignor registration and additional GACC filings for food products. An approved master plan provides for new facilities, targeting 285,000 tonnes by 2030 and 650,000 tonnes by 2050.
