## Description

Shandong's agricultural heartland surrounds Weifang Nanyuan Airport (IATA: WEF, ICAO: ZSWF): the vegetable belt around Shouguang, often called China's vegetable capital, lies right next door, backed by machinery and chemical industries. SF Express moved a freighter rotation here from Qingdao back in 2006, and express and mail cargo has been a mainstay of the airport's business ever since. A small number of passenger routes complement the freight activity. Road and rail links are strong, and the seaports of Qingdao and Yantai are two to three hours away by truck. For larger international volumes, most forwarders still route via Qingdao (TAO). Weifang itself is known worldwide as the kite capital, hosting an international kite festival every spring.
