## Description

The South African Air Force runs Waterkloof as its principal air transport base, on the southern edge of Pretoria near Centurion. It hosts military airlift units – including the C-130BZ Hercules of 28 Squadron – along with VIP squadron 21, which operates the presidential jet 'Inkwazi'. As a closed military installation, Waterkloof has no commercial scheduled or freight service; cargo moves only within military airlift missions. Civil air freight for the Pretoria/Tshwane area is handled at OR Tambo International (JNB) about 40 kilometres away, Africa's largest cargo airport. The base drew international attention in 2013 when a private jet landed there for a wedding without proper clearance.
