Around 23 million tonnes of iron-ore concentrate a year come out of Labrador West, and Wabush Airport (YWK) is the air link that keeps that industry staffed and supplied. Serving Labrador City, Wabush and nearby Fermont in Quebec, the airport sits in one of Canada's premier iron-ore districts, where Rio Tinto's Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) has mined for more than 55 years. PAL Airlines runs a dedicated cargo operation at the main terminal, with Air Inuit and Pascan Aviation adding regional routes.
