## Description

Verona's Valerio Catullo Airport (IATA: VRN, ICAO: LIPX) cleared more than 4 million passengers in 2025 but only about 856 tonnes of flown cargo, up 4.9% — the passenger half of the Venice-based SAVE Group's system, with freighters using sister airport Brescia-Montichiari 50 kilometres to the west. Lake Garda tourism and ski charters into the Dolomites drive the growth; 2024 traffic stood at roughly 3.7 million. The field at Villafranca di Verona is named after the Roman poet Catullus, whose family kept a villa on Lake Garda, and the Italian Air Force's 3° Stormo shares the site. Airfreight is handled in a dedicated cargo centre with customs office, temporary storage warehouse and a hall section subleased to DHL; ground handling comes from group-owned GDA Handling, which also works Brescia. There is no dedicated freighter operation here — the tonnage is belly cargo and express traffic.
