## Description

Built and run by Sun Group, Van Don International Airport (VDO) was Vietnam's first privately financed airport when it opened in Quang Ninh province near Ha Long Bay. Its 3.6-kilometre runway and 4E apron handle wide-body aircraft, while a cargo building of about 13,500 square metres is designed for up to 50,000 tonnes a year - a ceiling not yet reached, since operations remain weighted toward passengers, with expanded freight capacity planned by 2030. For forwarders, the draw is the industrial and border setting: the deep-water ports of Quang Ninh (Cai Lan) and the nearby Hai Phong/Lach Huyen complex enable combined sea-air routings, and the Mong Cai land crossing connects the southern China market. Vietnamese customs for Quang Ninh province clear consignments on site. Air cargo currently moves mainly as belly capacity on scheduled flights, with full freighter services still rare.
