## Description

In the Huasco Valley of the Atacama region, known for table grapes, olives and pisco, Vallenar (VLR) is a small airfield for general aviation and occasional regional and charter flights. There is no scheduled service with larger equipment; the runway at 1,725 feet is built for light aircraft. The field has no air-freight function – the region's farm and mining exports move by road to the regional airport at Copiapó (CPO) and onward to the national hub at Santiago (SCL), or directly to the Pacific ports of Huasco and Caldera. For Huasco logistics, road and port links are what count. Forwarders treat VLR as a local feeder rather than a freight node.
