## Description

On the western shore of Lake Urmia, about 13 kilometres north of the city, Shahid Bakeri International (OMH) is the main air gateway for Iran's West Azerbaijan province. It ranks among the country's twenty busiest airports for passengers, served domestically by Iran Air, Mahan Air, Kish Air and Zagros Airlines, with Turkish Airlines and Pegasus flying to Istanbul. Dedicated freight is marginal here – goods move chiefly as belly cargo on scheduled passenger flights. For freighter service, bonded warehousing or larger consignments, shippers route through Tabriz (TBZ) some 130 kilometres east or Tehran's Imam Khomeini hub (IKA). Roads connect the airport to Tabriz and onward to the Turkish border at Razi.
