## Description

In the remote Khorezm region of western Uzbekistan, Urgench Airport (UGC) is mainly a passenger gateway and the air access point for the desert city of Khiva. Khiva's walled old town, Itchan Kala, lies about 35 km away and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Scheduled flights run chiefly to Tashkent and to Russian destinations.
