Two parallel runways, a Foreign-Trade Zone and a barge port seven miles away give Tulsa International Airport (IATA: TUL, ICAO: KTUL) an unusually deep logistics base for a city its size. FedEx and UPS are among six air-cargo carriers that, with the US Postal Service, move freight here; FedEx runs its own Air Freight Center on North 85th East Avenue, and the airport itself sits in a roughly 1,731-acre subzone of Foreign-Trade Zone 53, allowing duty-deferred handling. The Tulsa Port of Catoosa, at the head of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, is one of the largest inland river ports in the country, sending barges toward the Mississippi and the Gulf. On the airfield, American Airlines operates one of the world's largest commercial-aircraft maintenance bases. Road and rail links run via I-44, US-75 and US-169 and the BNSF and Union Pacific lines. Tulsa, the Art Deco capital and a former oil capital still watched over by the Golden Driller, gives northeastern Oklahoma its second cargo anchor after Oklahoma City.
