## Description

A single runway, a terminal being upgraded and no confirmed scheduled freighter services define the cargo reality at Trondheim Airport Vaernes (TRD/ENVA), Norway's third-busiest airport by passenger volume. Operated by Avinor, it sits in Stjordal about 30 kilometres north-east of Trondheim with direct access to the E6 motorway and the Trondheim-Steinkjer railway line. Air cargo here travels as belly freight on services to Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and other European destinations, plus express consignments handled by the integrators. Ongoing terminal and runway works are intended to raise both passenger and cargo handling capacity, although no specific new freighter routes have been confirmed as a result. Intercontinental shipments from Trondelag, mainly farmed salmon and trout plus industrial components, are therefore usually trucked to Oslo Gardermoen (OSL), which handled roughly 170,000 tonnes of cargo in 2025; the 500-kilometre run down the E6 takes about seven to eight hours.
