## Description

Toyama prefecture runs on pharmaceuticals — a trade dating back some 300 years to its travelling medicine sellers — plus YKK zippers from Kurobe and aluminium processing, yet almost none of that output flies out of Toyama Airport. Built on the dry bed of the Jinzu River, the field handles a handful of daily ANA flights to Tokyo-Haneda, with pre-pandemic international links to Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei only partly restored. Since the Hokuriku Shinkansen reached Toyama in 2015, rail has dominated the Tokyo run. There is no freighter activity and only marginal belly capacity; forwarders route air cargo via Komatsu (KMQ), Centrair (NGO) or Narita, while bulk exports move through the seaport of Fushiki-Toyama.
