## Description

Not until 2011 did the mountainous prefecture of Tonghua in Jilin province get its own airfield: Tonghua Sanyuanpu Airport (IATA: TNH, ICAO: ZYTN), built near the town of Sanyuanpu about 30 kilometres from the city. A handful of daily passenger flights connect TNH with Beijing, Shanghai and Dalian. There is no cargo terminal and no freighter service; air freight from this ginseng- and pharmaceuticals-producing region is trucked to Changchun Longjia (CGQ, roughly 250 km) or Shenyang Taoxian (SHE) for uplift. Forwarders should treat TNH as a passenger-only point close to the North Korean border, with belly capacity too limited for planned cargo flows.
