## Description

Toncontín's (TGU) short, mountain-ringed runway at 3,294 feet is one of aviation's notorious approaches, and it rules out large freighters. Until late 2021 this was Tegucigalpa's international airport, but American, Avianca, Copa and United then moved to Palmerola, leaving a domestic-only operation. CM Airlines and Aerolíneas Sosa now link the capital to Roatán, San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba and Puerto Lempira. There is no standalone cargo business; air freight for the capital region routes through Palmerola, and volume shipments through San Pedro Sula. For forwarders, TGU is an in-city passenger feeder, not a freight location.
