## Description

When Tengchong Tuofeng Airport (IATA: TCZ) opened in 2009, the volcanic hot-spring town in western Yunnan regained the air link it had lost since the famous Hump airlift days of World War II. Today the airport at roughly 1,900 metres elevation serves domestic passenger routes, mainly to Kunming. Cargo handling is negligible; the region's jade and amber trade with neighbouring Myanmar moves by road, and air freight is consolidated at Kunming Changshui (KMG), Yunnan's primary cargo airport. Border crossings at Houqiao and Ruili connect the area to Myanmar's road network.
