## Description

Uzbekistan Airways anchors operations at Tashkent International Airport (TAS / UTTT), running the national carrier's passenger and freight network from the country's principal gateway. Renamed after Islam Karimov in 2017, the airport sits at roughly 1,400 feet on the edge of the Uzbek capital. Its dedicated cargo terminal combines bonded and non-bonded warehouses of around 20,000 m³ and can process up to 100,000 tonnes a year, covering general freight, perishables, pharmaceuticals and dangerous goods. Carriers such as YTO Cargo Airlines, China Southern, Turkish Airlines, Air China and FlyDubai feed shipments through Tashkent between Europe, the Gulf and East Asia. Customs operate around the clock, and bonded storage lets forwarders hold transit goods without paying duty immediately. Rail and road links are a real asset here: Tashkent is Central Asia's largest railway junction, tying air cargo to corridors toward Almaty, Astana and the Chinese border. For forwarders, that makes the airport a logical transfer point for consignments moving onward by truck or train. Notably, a rising share of Chinese e-commerce volumes destined for the CIS now routes through Tashkent.
