## Description

Around 1.64 million tonnes of air cargo are forecast across the six AOT airports in fiscal 2026, the bulk of it through Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Thailand's principal international gateway some 25 km east of Bangkok (up from about 1.42 million tonnes the year before). Freight handling is anchored by Bangkok Flight Services (BFS), a Worldwide Flight Services and Bangkok Airways joint venture whose roughly 55,700 m² terminal moved about 475,000 tonnes a year before the pandemic and now runs a GDP-certified pharma facility. Thai Airways Cargo, which recently upgraded its ULD handling system, and WFS-PG Cargo operate alongside it in the same bonded Free Zone; with the WFS-PG concession expiring in October 2026, AOT has opened a public-private partnership tender for a new — potentially third — cargo operator, a step that would lift handling capacity from roughly 1.75 million to as much as 2.28 million tonnes a year. Typical commodities span electronics, fresh produce, gems and jewellery, and temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals. To ease congestion from more than 8,000 cargo trucks a day, a Freezone Smart Access system has managed entry and exit to the duty-free zone since 2025. Landside, the airport links to Bangkok and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) by motorway, with road feeder trucking standing in for the absent rail-cargo connection. A new 58,000 m² Mixed-Use Logistics Centre beside Warehouse 4 underpins AOT's bid to make BKK the leading air cargo hub for ASEAN.
