## Description

Botash, Botswana's soda-ash producer, owns and runs Sua Pan Airport (SXN/FBSN), a private field about 11 kilometres west of Sowa. The single runway threads between the northern and southern basins of the Sua Pan, the salt pan where sodium carbonate is mined, and prior permission is normally required for use. The airport carries no scheduled cargo operations and has no public freight terminal; the soda ash itself moves out by rail and road toward Francistown and onward to South African seaports rather than by air. Forwarders needing genuine air-cargo capacity route through Gaborone's Sir Seretse Khama International (GBE), with intercontinental connections via Johannesburg (JNB). Its setting deep inside one of southern Africa's largest salt pans makes it one of the more unusual industrial airfields on the continent.
