## Description

Once branded the 'Railway Capital of Canada' and later home to a Ford assembly plant, St. Thomas in southwestern Ontario is reinventing itself around a CAD 7-billion Volkswagen PowerCo battery cell gigafactory now rising on a 350-acre site, with output due in 2027. The municipal airport YQS, however, stays a general-aviation field with no scheduled freight service. Goods for the emerging EV supply chain travel by truck via Highways 401 and 402 and through the air-cargo bases at London (YXU) and Toronto Pearson (YYZ). YQS is also the base of the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association, which restores and flies Second World War trainers.
