## Description

Forty-five kilometres west of downtown Cairo, on the Giza flank of the capital, SPX opened in 2020 to relieve the heavily used Cairo International hub. A single 24,000-square-metre terminal handles domestic and international traffic and is rated for around 1.5 million passengers a year. Its real draw is proximity: the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum sit only minutes away, making this a tourism gateway above all. Dedicated freight is not the focus here; air cargo for the Cairo region moves through Cairo International (CAI), roughly 50 kilometres to the east.
