## Description

Medan's air cargo no longer passes through Soewondo, despite its central location. Until 2013 the site operated as Polonia International, but civilian traffic moved to Kualanamu (KNO) when the new airport opened, leaving MES as a TNI-AU air force base with occasional charters. No commercial freight is handled here; the city's imports and exports clear through Kualanamu's cargo terminal some 40 km to the east. For forwarders, MES is essentially a historical reference point rather than an operational option. Its inner-city position now makes it more a topic of urban planning than of logistics.
