dnata has just landed a multi-year contract to handle the Silk Way Group's twice-weekly freighters, the latest sign of momentum at Singapore Changi Airport (IATA: SIN, ICAO: WSSS), which moved 2.08 million tonnes of air cargo in 2025, up 4.5 percent and one of its strongest years on record. Freight activity concentrates in the roughly 70-hectare Changi Airfreight Centre, a free trade zone housing handlers SATS and dnata alongside dedicated facilities for FedEx, UPS, DHL and SF Express, with about 170 forwarders in the airport's multi-tenant warehouses. More than 25 freighter operators serve the ramp, backed by Singapore Airlines' home-carrier belly capacity. Top cargo markets are China, the United States, Australia, Hong Kong and India, with semiconductors, e-commerce and CEIV-certified pharma among the key flows. Sea-air transhipment is a Changi speciality: the Port of Singapore, one of the world's largest container ports, is a short truck run away, and clearance runs paperless through Singapore Customs' TradeNet single window. dnata alone handles around 250,000 tonnes a year here for more than 30 airline customers. Looking ahead, the Changi East programme and Terminal 5 are designed to lift cargo capacity toward 5.4 million tonnes.
