## Description

Before 2014, Simferopol Airport (IATA: SIP, ICAO: UKFF) connected Crimea with Kyiv, Istanbul, or Tel Aviv — today it stands for the peninsula's isolation. After the annexation, only Russian domestic traffic not recognised under international law remained, for which the occupying authorities even opened a large new terminal in 2018. Since the closure of the airspace over southern Russia and Crimea in February 2022, even this traffic has largely been suspended. No air cargo is handled; Ukrainian air freight is currently routed via road feeder services to EU airports such as Rzeszów (IATA: RZE).
