## Description

Set in Fars province in southern Iran, Shiraz Shahid Dastghaib International Airport (SYZ) is the largest airport in the country's south and the main gateway for the Shiraz region. Opened in 1961 and granted international status in 1966, it links the historic city with domestic points and destinations across the Gulf and the wider Middle East. On the cargo side, SYZ has dedicated freight handling, with the Saman Air Services station providing cargo security and aircraft loading and unloading. Across around 13 routes it offers belly capacity and targeted freight services for the region. Customs clearance is provided by the Iranian Customs Administration (IRICA), with bonded storage for imported goods. Following a 2005 modernisation, SYZ ranks among Iran's most reliable airports for navigation and safety systems. Road connections run toward Gulf ports such as Bandar Abbas, supporting combined air–sea movements. For forwarders, SYZ is the reference point for air freight in the south, while intercontinental bulk still routes through Tehran's IKA.
