## Description

One city, two airports, two jobs: Pudong handles the world, Hongqiao handles China. Shanghai's western airport is the country's premier business field, running a dense domestic trunk network plus a handful of city-to-city routes to Tokyo Haneda, Seoul Gimpo and Taipei Songshan. Freight throughput is in the region of 400,000 tonnes a year, almost entirely domestic belly cargo and express. International shipments and virtually all freighter traffic move via Pudong (PVG) on the other side of the city, some 50 kilometres away. What makes Hongqiao valuable to forwarders is the transport complex it shares with the Hongqiao high-speed railway station: air and rail under one roof enable same-day distribution across the entire Yangtze River Delta. China Eastern has its home base here. For time-critical domestic moves, Hongqiao is often the faster door; for everything crossing a border, book Pudong.
